Everything but the kitchen sink

Pin It The Owl & the Elephant works like a well oiled machine. This is largely due to the fact that whilst the Owl and the Elephant are the bestest of friends and the same in oh so many ways one of us is an anally organised, time checker, diary keeper, on tracker, tidy, to the pointer whilst the other is... meh, whatevs, it will be fine, disorganised, untidy (only slightly!) we will do it when we get to it kinda gal!
We like to think that it is this "chalk and cheeseness" that makes us so perfectly compatable!! We have noticed changes - one of us has become slightly more relaxed whilst the other has become slightly more organised!!!

The best thing about The Owl and the Elephant? Doing something we love, with someone we love equally as much,  realising what those ladies on the Tena commercials where talking about. When you work with a best friend you laugh so hard sometimes you can't help but wee a little!!!

    Who loves a good tutorial?

Pin It Nat and I lead VERY exciting lives...between loads of washing, dirty nappies, light switch covers, markets and cooked dinners we love nothing more than kicking back with a cup of tea, a piece *cough*block*cough* of turkish delight chocolate and a good ol' tutorial. Here are a few of our current favs:

Love Making It  have taken some papier mache letters (which you can buy at Spotlight)

and wrapped them with brightly coloured wool...such a simple idea but so effective!

    Take a look

Another favourite and good one to keep in mind next time you have to wrap a present is this cool gift bow tutorial. Infact we kinda think a box of these bows would be an awesome present in themselves!!! Check them out at  How About Orange

This is one which we both can't WAIT to try with our 3 year old daughters...ALPHABET ROCKS! (get it? hehe)  Check them out over at More Mom Time

Are these  little bird cages from The Brides cafe not the cutest thing ever?

What are some of your fav tutorials?

    filling the void....

So.... as you may have heard by now Alice is gone! *sniff*
We are SOOOO over the moon, jump up and down, heart smiling, face crackingly happy that she has found someone who is going to love her just as much as we have but what to do next......
     * insert finger drumming nose!!*

So we had a play with a stool.......
    What do you think????

and as fun as it was hootifying it (hehe get it? beautifying? hootifying? The OWL and the elephant? ahahaha ahhh sleep how I miss thee) it just isnt enough! So we have headed to our "workshed" (aka the Elephant's garage) and pulled out our next project!!!

We have visions of a piece for the boys this time around, rockets and spaceships, blues and reds and more scrummy handles!!

    Maybe with a dash of....

    THIS!!!!!

Would love to hear your ideas! If we where making it for you (which is TOTALLY an option lol) what would YOU like to see?

    kalamunda markets

What looks like an attempt to empty a house is actually how Nat and I spent our Friday evening, getting ready for the Kalamunda markets!! We decided this time to do a full set up in Nat's dining room so that by the time we arrived at the markets we knew EXACTLY where we wanted everything to go!

What do you think of our setup?

the perfect spot for the perfect market shop!

Our "try it and see" temptation table with our little cute as a button "tool" crayons which unfortunately did not take to kindly to the warm sunny day!!

We met some so many lovely people and a big thankyou to all those that came past to say hi!! The Owl arrived home sporting a killer sunburn ( lesson learnt!!) and we scored some extra special goodies (the hardest part of markets - trying not to spend  the takings!!) and had an all round awesomely awesome day.

We would LOVE to know what you think of our setup - any suggestions? observations? compliments?
    (te he he)

    dum dum de dum

Pin It Today Mrs Owl has been married to her last first kiss for four wonderful years and is taking a little walk down memory lane.... care to join in?

The perfect wedding needs the following three things (and possibly a few more!!) ....

    1) A man and a woman madly in love and ready to commit....

     2) A first "married" kiss....

    3) and of course, Appropriate foot wear.....

We celebrated our first year of wedded bliss with the birth of our first daughter, A wedding night blessing born 10 weeks early and an absolute little miracle.....

Followed two years latter by our littlest big man! 8 weeks premmie and a true little fighter. Translated his name means "greatest King" and we just love him to bits!!

    A parliament of Owls...

What an amazing four years it has been, a whirlwind ride of babies and businesses mixed in with ALOT of love and laughter... we are living the blessed life and enjoying every minute!!

(Love the last two photos as much as I do?? check out Pure Design & Photography for an amazing Perth photographer who just so happens to also be my wonderful sister in law!!)

OHHHH and on a side note - come and fall in love with The Owl and the Elephants new FAVOURITE fabrics:

    Voila!!

We started with this (well, after a little sanding!):

Knew we HAD to have this fabric:

The Owl worked her magic "shabby chic'ing" up Alice and making her look all rustic and beautiful...then came the next step - fusing the fabric onto the dresser...a difficult task!

Measuring it all up before we start

The very painstaking task of getting the fabric fused perfectly to the top of Alice

The Elephant being 'pedantic' about smoothing out every single bubble or imperfection

All smoothed out waiting to dry

Just about dry....time to trim off the excess fabric (stay tuned for what we do with that)

Little Miss Elephant HAD to have a closer look...its JUST her size!

Now all we are waiting on are these beautiful drawer knobs we searched high and low for and eventually found in a store in New York
We think they will be just the finishing touch for Alice! Now please pray they arrive THIS WEEK!!

    and here she is completed...
